Our Initiatives
Community-driven programs that strengthen Carole Highlands
Free Little Libraries
Encouraging literacy and learning by providing free, accessible books throughout the neighborhood.
Our neighbors love to read!! Throughout our neighborhood, there are ‘free library’ structures ready for community use. Residents can browse book selections and take what interests them or donate books for others to share. This Spring, additional libraries will be installed throughout the neighborhood. Keep an eye out, the best is yet to come!
Speed Awareness
A major goal of our community is maintaining a safe environment.
Safety for pedestrians, pets, bike riders and drivers.
Be aware of your surroundings, follow the speed limit and stop at all stop signs.
Building strong relationships among residents through communication,
support, and inclusive community engagement.
Outreach & Volunteer Opportunities
Have you ever attended a neighborhood block party, cleanup event, or other special event planned by our residents? Keep an eye out for neighborhood postings, flyers and updates to this website.
Our spectacular flyer team hand-delivers flyers to all 380 homes in the neighborhood! Join us for flyer distribution, party planning, input to social media postings, gardening events, neighborhood cleanups, and more!
Watch this site for regular outreach and volunteer opportunities events in our community!
By working together, we create a welcoming environment where everyone’s voice is valued and the neighborhood continues to grow stronger. 🌿🤝🏽🏘️
Community Gardening
In our neighborhood, gardening with native plants is a common goal. There are multiple gardening and clean-up opportunities that can use your support, knowledge, and passion. Take pride in the trees and gardens you see throughout the neighborhood, and join us as we continue to plant and grow! Watch this site for regular postings of gardening opportunities. Purple Line Metro
As the Purple Line nears completion, Carole Highlands is transitioning into one of the most transit-connected neighborhoods in the region. This 16-mile east-west line will link Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, providing our community with unprecedented access to jobs, shopping, and entertainment from Bethesda to New Carrollton–all with less need for a car. And, it is expected that in the long-term, more walkable transit-oriented development will be attracted to the commercial parcels that surround Purple Line stations. Purple Line
