Prime Location

Easy access to DC attractions and amenities

Carole Highlands is located in Prince George’s County. Fortunately, our neighborhood is conveniently located close to Washington, DC, close to 2 Metro Stations, commercial and retail locations, within 5 miles of the University of Maryland and within 5 miles to Interstate 495 (the Beltway).

Carole Highlands

Entering from New Hampshire Avenue, the Carole Highlands neighborhood begins at 15th Avenue and includes all cross streets off of Erskine (and Drexel), and extends to 17th Avenue.

Both the school and the church are located in Carole Highlands.

Homes in the Carole Highlands neighborhood can have either a Takoma Park or Hyattsville mailing address because postal boundaries do not match city or county boundaries. Carole Highlands sits in Prince George’s County, but it lies directly on the border with Montgomery County and near the incorporated City of Takoma Park.

Regardless of the street, regardless of the zip code, as residents we enjoy the natural beauty of the neighborhood, the nearby amenities, the attractiveness of Sligo Creek Park with bike and nature trails, and our opportunities to support a vibrant neighborhood atmosphere.

Nature & Recreation

Paths to Sligo Creek for outdoor enjoyment

We love the fact that our suburban neighborhood is enhanced by natural resources we can all enjoy. Take a walk in the neighborhood and enjoy the gardening and plantings of flowers and trees owned by your neighbors. Take a walk or a bike ride through the Sligo Creek trails.

Sligo Creek is 9-mile tributary (stream) that flows through the heart of Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. On our side of New Hampshire Avenue, at the eastern edge of Drexel, there is a ‘cut through path’ from our neighborhood to the Sligo Creek trails, or you can drive south on 13th or 14th Avenue (off Erskine) to reach the neighborhood field and play areas next to the Sligo Creek trails.

Sligo Creek travels southeast through several diverse urban communities and neighborhoods, starting in Wheaton, past Forest Glen, Silver Spring, Takoma Park and Carole Highlands, ending at its confluence with the Northwest Branch of the Anacostia River at the western city limits of Hyattsville. There are multiple parks, trails playgrounds and play areas along the entire route of the Creek that you can drive to, walk to, or bike through. This treasure is popular with several neighborhoods and supports the various wildlife in the area.
